BOOTS

Afternoon friends,
This is the story of Boots
About 3 weeks ago I was looking at my emails
and a friend sent out a plea to A Tail To Tell
Rescue about a yorkie poo who was going to
be put down because he was held longer than
most. I knew that our fearless leader Cindy 's
phone was out of commission so she could not
make that decision. I did not answer the plea
either because I just wanted to ignore it! Well
this was on my mind all night and the next
morning I saw that no one had stepped up to
save this dog. He sure was cute and his eyes
were pleading to me. So what do I do, I call my
friend in Delaware and tell her I will foster him
for A Tail To Tell Rescue, figured I would tell
Cindy later (that is what I did). So a group of
people went into action, going to Kent County
Humane League that very morning because
they were afraid of them putting him down.
Jane kept him the first night because I could not
get him until Friday and than someone else
brought him to the turnpike exit near Exton. This
is how rescue works, truly teamwork at its best.
So Boots comes to my house with bad skin,
itching, sneezing but he sure was cute. As I am
reading his papers I find this torn one that at the
very bottom says Boots has cataracts. I am
thinking Oh No!!! Now how am I going to get
this dog adopted! Made a vet appointment for
him, gave him benadryl for his itching and
sneezing. And started him on Dr. Jane's all
natural food. He just blossomed. Got him
neurtered and made an eye doc appointment
for him. Put him on pet finder and I do believe
everyone fell in love with him. He was given up
by someone who was deployed so that makes
a good story in itself.
I knew I could not make any decision about
Boot's future until I knew what was going on
with the eyes, Boots is only a little more than a
year old so I sure did not want him to have a life
of blindness if it could be helped. But I also
knew how bad eye surgery is to a dog and also
how very expensive it could be. So on Tuesday
we go to Dr. Beale in Malvern. The whole time I
am driving there I am wracking my brain as to
what kind of fund raiser we are going to need
for Boots!!!
Well was I surprised, this was the diagnosis:
Boots has been diagnosed with hyper mature
cataracts in both eyes. What is amazing the
lenses have actually gone through a stage of
complete blindness and he is now able to see!
More impressive is the fact that his eyes have
started to correct themselves. The doctor said
excitedly, this is very rare, this is a miracle! She
said she had heard of it but never seen it. Boy
was he the talk of this office!! She said the
word miracle!! Wow,was I impressed.
Boots is the miracle!! Many people worked
together to save him but it sure was worth it!
Have attached his picture, you will see what I
mean.
I bet many of you did not really want to read this
thought I was going to ask for a donation for
something. But no, I just want you to know about
a very happy ending for a special dog named
Boots who was blind, given to the humane
league, was biting himself raw out of stress,
and was rescued by many caring people and is
now adopted by a loving family. I know Boots is
going to have a very wonderful long life.
He taught me to have more faith and never give
up even if life gets difficult. Ah what we learn
from our pets!
Sincerely,
Joanne
Just a note - Joanne and Jane took it upon
themselves to save this little boy. Just think of
all the dogs we could save if everyone
answered the call for just one dog in need.
We can't save them all but perhaps YOU could
save just one.
