Gnocchi (AKA Giorgio)
In April of 2014 we lost our most beloved rescue Shih Tzu, Niko. We were
completely heartbroken. Two months later we realized that we were ready to
rescue again so we adopted another rescue, Paddington, followed by rescuing
Kemper 5 months later (another Shih Tzu). These two guys bonded pretty
quickly and were very happily adjusted to our family. And yet we had a
feeling that we just couldn’t shake of wanting to add one more rescue Shih
Tzu to our family, and we were open to one with special needs. Searching on
an online rescue site, we found our newest baby named Giorgio (now named
He had only one working eye and was being lovingly fostered at the time.
His initial adopter fell through and we felt selfishly happy because his
foster mom’s description of him made us feel he would be a great fit for our
family (that also includes two young children).
When we brought him home on September 1, 2016, we expected that the 3 dogs
wouldn’t all get along right away and had prepared ourselves for a big dose
of “doggie acting out” until they were all used to each other. So we were
thrilled when we brought Gnocchi to our home and all three dogs started
wagging tails immediately and played and bonded from the start. He was
understandably a bit shy for a while but now we love that he’s so
comfortable with us and his playful personality shines through. He loves
wrestling with Paddington and chilling with Kemper. He also loves sleeping
with us on our bed and giving us licks in the morning. He also likes to act
like he’s digging deep holes on our bed or couch. His one eye doesn’t slow
him down one bit!
He is so beloved in our home and completes our family perfectly! We are so
thankful that A Tail to Tell rescued him and let us be his forever home.
