After suffering more than 7 years of extreme cruelty and neglect in a puppy mill, Lance was rescued by the amazing men and women at ATTT and found his forever family in us. When we first adopted him in the Spring of 2015, Lance was not housebroken. He was so scared that he would actually flinch if I reached out to pet him. And if I picked him up, forget about it. He would literally pee all over himself in terror.
Fast forward 11 months later and Lance is my little shadow. He is now housebroken and has become good friends with his sister, Kiki. From Kiki, he has learned how wonderful living in a home can be! Lance has learned basic commands such as “sit” and “wait,” and greets me with bounds and kisses whenever I come through the door. He loves to play games like catch and “Go Find,” and zooms around the yard so fast he might jet-propel himself into space. Even though he is still a bit timid around strangers, Lance warms up quickly to people and loves to cuddle. His loyalty is incredible–by nature, he is a more passive dog. He lets me bathe and groom him without restraint, and loves music therapy and coconut oil massages. Even after having a major surgery that removed 16 rotting, abcessed teeth, Lance now loves having his teeth brushed every day. He has a special place up on the bed next to mommy, and he and Kiki sleep on either side of me every single night!
Just 10 days ago, my husband and I welcomed another precious addition to our family–our first child! From the moment we brought our son home from the hospital, Lance and Kiki were snuggling against him. We are so blessed our baby is going to grow up alongside these two beautiful souls, in a home filled with love, and we are so excited to share Lance’s “Happy Tail” with the world! Thank you to our friends at ATTT for all of the compassionate work you do on behalf of wonderful dogs like Lance!
