Memorials and Tributes...
for our friends and companions who have gone before us...

"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more
temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and
often breached.

Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other
way.
We cherish memory as the only certain immortality,  never
fully understanding the necessary plan."  ~ Irving Townsend.
ChiChi Gates

It is with a sad heart I bid a fond farewell to a wonderful little Chihuahua, ChiChi Gates.

ChiChi lived most of her life with her best friend John.  Then just a few months ago when John asked his "second best friend" Terri
to marry him ChiChi had to adjust to life with another human and two big dogs named, Oscar and Buddy.  ChiChi was still the light
of John's life and Terri, being the animal lover that she is,  fell in love with ChiChi the first time ChiChi bared her teeth at her for
touching John.  ChiChi was soon as spoiled by Terri as she had always been by poppa John.  It got to the point where I was
hearing as many ChiChi stories as I had heard Buddy and Oscar stories.  ChiChi was quite the little rascal.  Then one day a few
weeks ago John was called at work by his mother (John's mother was ChiChi's dogsitter).  John's mother reported that ChiChi was
ill.  There was nothing that anyone could do to save this little 10 year old girl.  ChiChi's little heart had given out.  Little ChiChi died
from congestive heart failure.  John and Terri were devastated.  Those of us that know them shared their pain.  There were no
signs leading up to this.  ChiChi had spent the last part of her life doing the things she had always done.  We can take comfort in
the fact that little ChiChi is now running through fields of ferns.  Drinking out of lakes filled with ice cold water and taking
nourishment with all the other little dogs at the Rainbow Bridge.
God Speed little one.
You were loved.

unconditional love is our pets.   Yet
often, when we lose them, others

IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS THAT I SHARE THE PASSING OF BUDDY GARNER - GATES
TERRI ADOPTED BUDDY FROM THE LANCASTER, PA HUMANE LEAGUE WHEN HE WAS JUST 10 MONTHS
OLD. TERRI AND BUDDY WERE INSEPARABLE. BUDDY IS THE MAN THAT SAW HER THROUGH HER
DIVORCE, HER BAD DAYS, HER GOOD DAYS AND HER STRESSFUL DAYS. BUDDY WAS TERRI'S BEST
FRIEND. I HAVE KNOWN TERRI FOR ALMOST 7 YEARS AND THERE HASN'T BEEN A DAY THAT WE HAVEN'T
IS HAVING A HARD TIME WITHOUT HIM. BUDDY WAS GETTING OLD AND TERRI KNEW THAT AT SOME POINT
SHE WOULD SEE HIM LEAVE. SHE TRIED AS HARD AS SHE COULD TO KEEP HIM ALIVE BUT THE DAY CAME
WHEN SHE KNEW, OUT OF LOVE FOR HIM THAT SHE WAS GOING TO HAVE TO SEND HIM OFF TO THE
RAINBOW BRIDGE. TERRI AND HER HUSBAND DROVE BUDDY TO THE CREEK WHERE HE HAD PLAYED ALL
HIS LIFE. SHE TOLD ME HE ACTUALLY LIFTED HIS HEAD AND GAVE IT A FINAL GLANCE. TERRI AND JOHN
THEN DROVE BUDDY TO THEIR VET'S OFFICE AND ASKED THAT BUDDY BE ESCORTED OVER. BEFORE HE
LEFT, TERRI REACHED INTO HER POCKET AND PULLED OUT A WARM McDONALDS HAMBURGER. THIS HAD
ALWAYS BEEN A SPECIAL OCCASION TREAT FOR BUDDY AND TERRI WANTED TO SEND HIM OFF WITH
ONE LAST BURGER IN HIS TUMMY. I HEARD THAT TERRI HAD A HARD TIME LETTING HER BIG, STRONG,
WONDERFUL AND LOVING MAN GO. I CAN'T BEGIN TO EXPLAIN THE BOND THAT THESE TWO HAD. ONLY
THOSE OF US IN THE DOG WORLD CAN TRULY UNDERSTAND THE LOVE BETWEEN A HUMAN AND THEIR
BEST FRIEND. TERRI AND JOHN DID NOT HAVE TO SUFFER ALONE. THERE WERE SO MANY OF US THAT
KNEW AND LOVED BUDDY. KRISTINE HERMAN GAVE A MONETARY DONATION IN HIS NAME AS DID TERRI'S
MOTHER AND FATHER IN LAW. TERRI AND JOHN DONATED $100.00 IN HIS MEMORY AND I PLAN TO GIVE
THAT DONATION TO THE NEXT BIG BLACK LAB THAT WE RESCUE. TERRI HAD ONLY A LITTLE OVER 14
YEARS WITH BUDDY. I WISH SHE COULD OF HAD MORE TIME WITH HIM. HE WILL LIVE ON IN HER STORIES
AND HER THOUGHTS. WE WILL NOT LET HIS PASSING GO UNNOTICED. I PROMISE THAT SOMEDAY A TAIL
TO TELL WILL HAVE A SANCTUARY AND THERE WILL BE A ROOM FILLED WITH TOYS AND LOVE AND
DEDICATED TO HIS MEMORY.
TERRI AND JOHN, I AM SO TERRIBLY SADDENED BY THE PASSING OF YOUR LITTLE MAN. WE ALL LOVED
HIM TOO.
TAKE A MOMENT TO REMEMBER...
