Bella (AKA Lindy)

After we lost one our beloved dogs in June 2017, we were ready to adopt
another rescue.  We saw a picture of Bella and fell in love instantly.  We
met her at her foster parents’ home with the intention of thinking it over,
deciding if she was the right dog for us, and making a decision later.
However, we were so enamored that we brought her home the same day!

When Bella was rescued from a horrific puppy mill, she had a broken leg that
had been duct taped.  The wonderful folks at A Tail to Tell (ATTT) took her
to an amazing veterinarian/surgeon who said the leg had been broken for at
least a month.  She underwent surgery and had a plate and screws inserted to
fix her leg.  She also had hookworm, which caused her a lot of pain.  We
later found out both her knees require surgery, she has a collapsing trachea
and a “borderline” enlarged heart.  Despite her horrific treatment Bella has
grown to love and trust humans.

Bella was understandable very scared of new situations and new people,
however, in the few months that we have had her in our home she has
blossomed so much!  She absolutely loves every dog she meets and loves to
cuddle on the couch with our other dogs, any chance she gets.  She has also
bonded so well with the entire family.  She’s learned to trust us and loves
to be held.  She’s turned into quite the traveler as well.  She’s flown to
Florida and accompanied us on a trip to Alabama.  All the while, she’s taken
things in stride and has handled all the changes so well.  I’m amazed how
well she’s adjusted to life outside of a cage.

She is such a precious, sweet soul despite her history.  We’re so fortunate
to have found her and so grateful that ATTT was able to rescue her from a
terrible life.  She’s now going to have the life she deserves, full of love,
cuddles, great veterinarian care, and lots of new adventures.

  • Branny G has been with us since 2012. She was not our first rescue so we knew what to expect. The biggest thing I’ve learned from adopting pets, is time. Some take in the situation a little more slowly, others go all in at once. I remember with Branny the first time she sat next to me on the couch, the first smooch, the first time she didn’t run from the leash..and more. It does take time and patience, but the love she gives us back just can’t be described.
