Chance

My husband and I always wanted a pet but were unable to have one in our apartment. When we bought our first house in June 2017 we decided it was time to finally get a dog. We began searching on PetFinder and decided to go and meet a Miniature Schnauzer/Yorkie that was at A Tail to Tell. While we were at the rescue, there was another dog that caught our eye…a 6 month old Cavapoo named Charlie Chan. It was love at first sight! After spending just a few minutes with Charlie Chan, we knew he was the perfect dog for us.

When we found out we were approved to adopt Charlie Chan, it was a very happy day. The week-long wait until he had his final vet visit seemed like months to us…we were so ready to welcome our new puppy into our home. We decided to rename our puppy Chance after his “2nd Chance” at life as part of our family.

We were excited and nervous on the day we picked up Chance to bring him home. In the first couple of weeks, Chance’s energy was very hard to control. He chewed the furniture, had many accidents, and unrolled countless rolls of toilet paper. He needed constant supervision and would get into mischief if left alone for even a minute.

Flash forward to four months later, and Chance is nearly a perfect dog. He has learned his basic commands such as sit, stay, and come. He is much better at walking on his leash and is even learning not to chase after every squirrel he sees while on a walk! Chance enjoys his playtime and going for walks during the day and is happy to curl up and snuggle with us in the evening.

Our lives have been completely changed by Chance. He is our absolute joy. Neither I nor my husband imagined loving our puppy as much as we do. We are looking forward to many adventures and joys with Chance by our side!

With Gratitude,   Lauren and Ben

  • Branny G has been with us since 2012. She was not our first rescue so we knew what to expect. The biggest thing I’ve learned from adopting pets, is time. Some take in the situation a little more slowly, others go all in at once. I remember with Branny the first time she sat next to me on the couch, the first smooch, the first time she didn’t run from the leash..and more. It does take time and patience, but the love she gives us back just can’t be described.
