Lucy (AKA Patty Cake)

Lucy (aka Patty Cake) joined our family when she was four months old on a foster-to-adopt basis the end of March 2017, and we officially adopted her in May. She was surrendered to A Tale to Tail by a puppy mill breeder because of a minor physical condition that would have made it difficult for her to be bred.

Because Lucy spent the first months of her life at the puppy mill, she had some behavioral issues.   I have to admit, the first couple of weeks with her were challenging.  But with time, patience and the training advice and assistance given by ATTT’s awesome trainer, Sheree, Lucy has blossomed into a wonderful puppy.

We had Lucy’s DNA tested and she is a mix of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Jack Russell.  She definitely has the sweet temperament of a Cavalier, but  I think she gets her mischievousness from the Jack Russell side   :o)

Some of Lucy’s  favorite things to do include playing with her toy rubber pig (which she invariably makes “oink” while I’m on the phone), wrestling with her fur kid brother, Duffy, and snuggling up next to me at night while I’m watching tv.   She is a smart,  playful, silly love bug, and we are so happy she is part of our family.

  • It took some time for her to trust hands and laps, but she is now a loving, happy little lady and a very important part of our family. Believe it or not, she has inspired us to persevere through tough times. It may seem crazy that this fluffy little chihuahua taught us about strength and grit, but we learned that if this little dog could hang in there until she got a chance to live her best life, surely we can make it through a tough day or two.
